PRESIDENT, PHOTOGRAPHER, PRODUCER, AND STORYTELLER

NAGAMITSU ENDO, the founder of NAGAVISION INC. is a New York City-based photographer and producer specializing in music, performing arts, and documentary photography. Growing up in diverse cities like Tokyo, New York, Mumbai, and Karachi, Nagamitsu has developed a multicultural perspective and an eye for the rhythm of street and city life, which are reflected in his photography.

 

Nagamitsu's photographic journey has been shaped by his studies under accomplished masters such as Philip Perkis, Arthur Freed, Sarah van Ouwerkerk, and Anne Turyn while he earned his MFA in photography at Brooklyn's Pratt Institute. He further honed his skills by assisting and apprenticing with renowned photojournalists, including Enrico Ferorelli, Antonin Kratochvil, Heinz Kleutmeier, Ken Kerbs, Danuta Otfinowski, and Adam Stoltman on numerous editorial and corporate assignments.

DIVERSE STORYTELLING AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

After landing a job at the New York-based U.S. production unit of NHK, the Japanese public broadcaster, Nagamitsu went on to produce, direct, and edit numerous documentaries and live events covering a wide range of subjects, from the events following 9/11 to the Afghan War, the Iraq War, the 50th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, Gun Violence in America, Racial Disparity in America, and the legacies of jazz legends Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock.

 

Before founding NAGAVISION INC. in 2023, Nagamitsu led an expert creative and technical team specializing in 8K and 4K content for NHK's full-blown 8K/4K broadcast channel in Japan. This role allowed him to utilize his deep understanding of optics, visual narrative, and rigorous technical standards.

PASSION FOR STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

Street photography is Nagamitsu's true passion, which he describes as a "walking meditation" - a process of losing himself in the act of capturing the rhythms and moments of urban life. In addition to his visual and narrative skills, Nagamitsu also holds a law degree from Sophia University in Tokyo, further enriching his multifaceted expertise.

幼少期からニューヨーク、インド・ムンバイ、パキスタン・カラチで暮らし、上智大法学部卒業後に渡米。ニューヨークのプラット・インスティテュート大学院芸術学部写真専攻科修了。写真家フィリップ・パーキス、アーサー・フリード、サラ・ヴァン・アウワーカーク、アン・テゥリンに師事後、エンリコ・フェロレーリ、アントニン・クラトクヴィル、ハインツ・クルートマイヤー、ケン・カーブズ、ダヌータ・オトフィノウスキー、アダム・ストルトマンらフォトジャーナリストの撮影助手をつとめ多数の雑誌や法人撮影業務に携わる。ニューヨークの写真エージェンシー、映像制作会社勤務を経てNHKの米国関連会社に入社後はディレクター、プロデューサーとして２００１年９月１１日の同時多発テロ事件を契機にアフガン侵攻、イラク戦争、キューバ革命５０周年、アメリカの銃暴力、人種差別などをテーマに多数のドキュメンタリー番組を制作。NHKの８K／４K放送の創世記にはその技術の世界展開に奔走し、最新鋭の放送技術を駆使したジャズライブをはじめとする多数の音楽番組の制作に携わる。２０２３年独立、NAGAVISION INC. を設立。
